Looking forward to meeting agents and publishers to pitch Love in a Broken World:Two Sisters Journey to Forever Love at the New Jersey Romance Writing Conference 2018 Put your heart in a Book! beginning October 19, 2018 If you are interested in joining us here is the link: Now, back to the journey in the writing of this story. The rough draft of the book is finished and in process of revision. Next, editing and sending to anyone that is interested. Today, I begin my synopsis and attempt to revise and edit the first three chapters for pitching to editors and agents at the NJRW conference. Looking back over my life I must admit it is time. Biggest hurdle for me of late? This past summer I determined attendance at this conference is my next step. Unfortunately, my mother (almost 90 y.o.) broke her leg in April and it was not healing so well. I was hesitant in committing to the conference. When one of my writer friends signed up I felt even more compelled to go, but hesitation hung heavy over my head. Q (my husband) and I left at the beginning of September for a quiet vacation on a lake in Vermont. My intention there: write synopsis, revise and edit first three chapters. The plan seemed clear and easy. Take care of those things during the 10 day vacation, return to sub in the local school district and register for conference. Then continue working on revision/editing of the entire book. We all know about best laid plans of mice and men. Two days into vacation the call came. My sweet mother was not doing well at all. Her kidneys were failing after an emergency surgery of her colon. All of these events after we were in Vermont. Q, my wonderful husband, rushed me to the nearest airport and I arrived in Texas within hours before her passing. I stayed in Texas to plan and finalize the funeral with my sisters and life-long friends until the third of October. With registration only days away, I contemplated the trip, the commitment, the opportunity. After much consideration, I registered and sent in my requests for editors and agents. After all. My writing is a tribute to my mother and her life. She lived a good one. I chose my pseudonym for her. Nellie Jane is my mother's birth certificate name. It seems only fitting to fly into this dream adventure after she flies into the arms of her savior and begins her new dancing life with my dad. I will touch base with you after I've experienced this conference. Have a blessed day and remember Forever Love, It happens... Meet Edward:
A mature man in his 50s, admittedly handsome and intelligent. As a childhood classmate of Violet, he desired her from the time he was 5 years old. She has neither desired, nor seen him – except for a horrid experience that is tied forever to the shame on her sixteenth birthday. Right now in the story writing: Edward is reminded of a crime that he was unable to prevent. He is pulled between job and Violet's re-appearance in the small town of Hartingheim. The scene opens with him finding her on the side of the entry to her childhood home. And for the first time, Violet notices Edward. Meet Violet Buchannen.
She is the youngest of five sisters, a 58 year old journalist and female advocate. She's lived her life without a man, which doesn't mean she hasn't wanted one! Her life has been riddled with male relationships that have never gone far. Her walls were built at 16 and no one will succeed in tearing them down. Or, will he? Being called back to the United States from her charming international home on the sides of a mountain in Germany, she is thrown together with family members that have come to despise her for finding a life outside of small town Hartingheim, Texas. Meet Emma Buchannen. She is the fourth daughter born to Jenny and Big Monroe Buchannen. Highly educated, she left her big city life to come home when Jenny began bouts with illnesses, leaving her mother weak and disoriented. Emma has been the steady force in the family. Never marrying or even dating, Emma determined to fight for the battered woman, has earned a living giving counsel to lawyers trying such cases. After years of being separated these two sisters are thrown together to deal with family struggles. They find themselves, for the first time in years, on the same side and playing field. Can they catch the evil that forced their hearts to close and put them away for good? Will these two women heal from their past experiences and find their hearts' desires? And those heart's that have been broken. Will they be opened to love that was there all along? I honestly don't know, yet! But, I do know that good and evil; human trafficking, and love that knows no bounds are all part of the story. This book is in process of being written. Want to join me in this endeavor?
